Summer May Be The Most Dangerous Time Of The Year

Posted on Behalf of Attorney Ross Goodman

There is always something positive about summer: the playful sun to warm our skin, the inviting beaches to cool our bodies and the clear weather enabling us to wear thinly and still be comfortable with it. As it officially opened last Friday, people are now taking advantage of the blissful warmth of the sun—a barbeque under the shed of palm tree, a family gathering with the kids bathing on the beach and a bunch of alcohol to drown the stress. Oh, alcohol: that you should reconsider.
Though summertime may be the perfect time to drown the worries away, you might as well do it on a beach but on alcohol. There is a reason why people always say that alcohol and sun don’t mix albeit the fact that it is the complete epitome for summer parties.
The logic goes that extreme and prolonged exposure to the heat can have a drastic effect on how your body regulates the standard heat of the body as well as the circulation of water and minerals. Because of the disturbed cycle, the body has to work twice as hard to keep pace on such extreme conditions. Not only you increase the risk of having a heat stroke and heat exhaustion, you are literally intoxicating your body by substituting water to alcohol; the more alcohol that you drink, the more likely you are of becoming dehydrated, confused
Not to mention the classic danger of alcohol drunkenness equating itself to uncountable accidents.
Also, interestingly, accident rates spike during summer and twice as many teenagers die because of being young drivers. This is because summer offers the best weather condition every year to learn how to drive. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, between the years of 2001 to 2005, 36 car accidents happened every day because of alcohol-impaired drivers and young drivers.
Summer may be of the most dangerous and riskiest days for everyone but it still can be pretty much avoided. Before rushing to the nearby beach and drink the night away, always consider the people around you. You may avoid getting car accident but the heat and alcohol in the long run gets you. If it already happened, contact a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Time is always of essence.

Studies and research may point out that it is dangerous, the real danger of alcohol- drinking comes from the lack of moderation. If one would simply gulp a beer mindlessly, the percentage of danger would obviously escalated.
